The speakers were Artur Sakunts, head of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor office, Nina Karapetyants, head of Helsinki Association for Human Rights and Marina Poghosyan, head of “Veles” Human Rights Defense organization.
The appointment of Hunan Poghosyan as Syuniq governor caused unrest among public circles.
Artur Sakunts says that this is not the only controversial appointment and public feedback to such appointments is segmental.
“In the economic bloc also there are people who have worked in harmony with the previous government and are connected with corruption stories”, Sakunts says.
Nina Karapetyants stressed that no one even acting prime minister Pashinyan has the right to solely appoint such people in different offices.
“To appoint Hunan Poghosyan as Syunkq governor means to humiliate the people of Syunik”, Karapetyants said.
Marina Poghosyan recapped when Poghosyan was deputy chief of police Grisha Virabyan in Armavir was tortured and the case ended up in ECHR.
She also recapped Shant Harutyunyan and raised the question whether the prime minister who also reported against Poghosyan for torturing Shant Harutyunyan is comfortable or uncomfortable.
“The appointment does not stand scrutiny. Hunan Poghosyan is a criminal and I openly declare about it, I have evidence”, Poghosyan said.
