On April 30, at 3 p.m., Media Center hosted a discussion-press-conference “Violence against Reporters in Election Period”. Speakers included Ashot Melikyan, Chairman of the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression, Gevorg Hayrapetyan, lawyer at the Freedom of Information Center of Armenia, reporters Hripsime Jebejyan (www.aravot.am), Hakob Karapetyan (www.ilur.am) and Elina Chilingaryan (www.azatutyun.am), whose professional duties were obstructed in the election period.
On April 30, at noon, Media Center hosted a Panel Discussion/Press Conference titled “Candidates' Perspectives on Education in Yerevan City and Suggested Solutions”, with participation of party representatives running for the city council, among them Artak Aghbalyan (ARF), Anahit Bakhshyan (Barev Yerevan), David Muradyan (Mission), Julieta Tadevosyan (OEK), Tamar Poghosyan (PAP), as well as Satenik Mkrtchyan, junior scientific worker at the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.
On April 26, at noon, Media Center hosted a discussion-press-conference “Candidates' perspectives of Yerevan city healthcare issues and solutions”, with participation of city council candidates Yenok Abrahamyan (ARF), Hayk Martirosyan (Barev Yerevan), Manuk Sukiasyan (Mission), as well as Medical Free-Independent Trade Union member Gevorg Tamamyan and leader of Armavir Development Center Naira Arakelyan.
On April 23, at noon, Media Center hosted a discussion-press-conference on “Candidates' Perspective of Yerevan City Public Transport Issues and Solutions”, with invited speakers Artsvik Minasyan (ARF), Armen Poghosyan (Barev Yerevan), Gurgen Gasparyan (PAP), Aren Manukyan (ANC), Artur Misakyan (OEK), Hrach Sargsyan (Mission), as well as Eduard Hovhannisyan, leader of the Society for the Defense of Drivers' Rights Achilles, and architect Gurgen Musheghyan.
On April 22, at noon, Media Center hosted a discussion on “The Year of 2015: Preparations in Armenia and Turkey”, with participation of Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute director Hayk Demoyan, Vice-Dean of YSU Faculty of Eastern Studies Ruben Melkonyan, experts in Turkish studies Artak Shakaryan and Anush Hovhannisyan, Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia deputy project manager David Amiryan and independent consultant Levon Hovsepyan.
On April 18, Media Center hosted a discussion-press-conference “Yerevan City Budget: Candidates’ Perspectives on Issues and Solutions”, with the invited speakers Vahe Nikoyan (RPA), Artsvik Minasyan (ARF), Poghos Plavchyan (PAP), Simon Ghonakhchyan (Barev Yerevan), Julietta Tadevosyan (OEK), Mesrop Arakelyan (Mission), leader of Alternative Research Center Tatul Manaseryan, president of Union of Community Financiers Vahan Movsisyan.
On April 10, Media Center hosted a discussion on “The Clashes between the Police and Young Activists and the Domestic Political Situation” with participation of Armenia’s Helsinki Committee leader, human rights activist Avetik Ishkhanyan, expert in eastern studies and conflict analysis Arsen Kharatyan, former presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan and detained-released activist Shoghakat Vardanyan.
On April 10, Media Center hosted a discussion-press conference on “The reasons and consequences of Armavia’s bankruptcy in the highlight of national security”. Among the invited guests were former chief of RA Civil Aviation Shahen Petrosyan, vice-chairperson of Public Council’s Air Transport Policy Sub-Committee Izabella Muradyan and management expert, economist Harutyun Mesrobyan.
On April 5, Media Center hosted a press-conference on “Palliative Care in Armenia: Developing New Legislation”, with participation of consultant to the Open Society Institute’s International Palliative Care Initiative, Dr. Stephen Connor and Armenia's Healthcare Ministry's Chief of Staff Suren Krmoyan.
On April 3, Media Center hosted a press-conference featuring “Mid-term (2010-2012) alternative report on the situation of Human Rights in Armenia” prepared by Civil Society Institute (CSI), the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC), and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). Speakers included Arman Danielyan, President of the Civil Society Institute NGO, Tatevik Gharibyan and Anna Meliqyan, lawyers of the CSI.
