Former employees of Yerevan subway consider the decision of December 2015, made by the Cassation Court, to be unfair according to which the termination of their contracts has a legal basis and they cannot recover their jobs at the Yerevan Metro.
As a result of judicial error there are sentenced people both in Armenia and in many other states of the world who need legal support and their cases need accurate journalistic investigation, said Zaruhi Mejlumyan, Head of “Armenian Innocence Project” NGO, at the Media Center hosted press conference.
It’s already long time that no real and qualitative economic growth was recorded in Armenia. 3,1% indicator of economic activity for 2015 published by the National Statistical Service (NSS) does not seem reliable. However, even if the economic activity indicator were 7%, no significant positive development would be recorded within the general population, taking into account the social polarization, high level of monopolization in the economy and unequal distribution of revenues.
There is progress in the human rights protection in the Armenian military forces but many issues still need to be solved. The security of soldiers is not provided in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the contact line. There are problems in terms of conscripts’ check-up of soldiers, social affairs of officers and so on.
According to “Transparent International” anti-corruption organisation, the corruption perception index in Armenia did not change last year and there have been no clear reduction trends for 13 years in spite of different anti-corruption institutions and the corresponding strategy. Varujan Hoktanyan, Head of Transparent International anti-corruption center, said during press release at Media Center on January 27.
The devastating conditions for animals at Gyumri “zoo” need to be changed urgently. The animals, two bears and three lions, will leave Armenia not to return as long as the country does not provide proper conditions for them.

The participants were Ashot Alexanyan, the architect, the author of the project, under-construction building located behind 30 Aram street, Arsen Karapetyan, architect at the ARCHcoop Arhitectural Studio, Anahit Bakhshyan, teacher, member of the Yerevan city council and the block “Hello Yerevan” and Levon Igityan, architect, faction member of the “Republican Party.”

There is a good chance to intensify also tourism from Iran to Armenia and vice versa, as well as to unite the tourism markets of two countries. Though the city council has worked in Yerevan for several years, it still fails to fully balance and monitor the city mayor’s activities. The mayor keeps maintaining power in the relations with the city council. The Mayor’s actions affected the programs of the city administration and effective enactment of the decisions.
