Media Center, July 24, Yerevan. As the human rights defenderes state, the demonstrations and use of force activities that were held after the storming of the Yerevan police station by Sasna Dzrer a year before, large-scale violence were accompanied by a large-scale violence against journalists and cameramen by the police and hindering of the professional activity.
On July 17, during the meeting with Ara Babloyan, Armenian National Assembly Speaker, Vyacheslav Volodin, Russian State Duma Speaker, proposed to grant the Russian language the status of an official language so that the national driving licenses could be recognized in Russia.
The Media Center hosted the press conference of Mr. Jean-Francois Charpentier, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Armenia, devoted to the National Holiday of France. During the press conference, the topics of the French National Holiday, Armenian-French economic relations and negotiation process of Karabagh conflict were covered.
On November 10, 2011, the Government of Armenia adopted the concept of “Community Enlargement and Formation of Inter-Community Unions” which aims to unite small and weak communities into a large community and form a new local self-governance model.
July 5 is the Constitution Day of the Republic of Armenia. In 1995, July 5, the newly independent Armenia adopted its first constitution through a nationwide referendum. It has been revised twice during the whole history – in 2005 and in 2015.
A discussion entitled “Unsolved Problems or Reforms in Gyumri? Assessing the work of Local Self-Government bodies” will be held by Media Center, jointly with the Journalists’ Club “Asparez” in Gyumri on June 16.
