On November 15, the National Assembly adopted the Law on Military Service with the overwhelming majority, 86 votes in favor and 6 against.
This law raised a wave of protests among students. Deputies of the Republican, Dashnaktsutiun and Tsarukyan factions voted for the bill. The oppositional "Yelq" faction was against the adoption of the law.
Members of the “For Science Development” initiative protesting against the law negotiated with the speaker of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan and RPA spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov for about an hour behind closed doors that day, and the next day on November 22, they announced about holding a roundtable with authorities. And before that the strike and the hunger strike stopped.
