A discussion entitled “The Causes and Consequences of the Closure of OSCE Yerevan Office” was held at Media Center on May 10.
Hovhannes Igityan, Former Chairman of RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan, Executive Director of “Eurasian Partnership Foundation”, and Edmon Marukyan, RA Member of Parliament.
Armenia was the only state in the region that had OSCE office which is being closed due to the efforts of Azerbaijan. OSCE office in Baku was opened in 2000 and closed in 2014; the office in Tbilisi was opened in 1992 and closed in 2008.
The speakers expressed their concern about the closure of OSCE Yerevan Office.
Referring to the closure of OSCE Yerevan Office because of Azerbaijan’s position, Hovhannes Igityan said that Azerbaijan relates it with Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and considers that the programs implemented by the Office are to promote the status quo.
