In Armenia, men get higher monthly average salary, and it is observed in all economic sectors. The pay gap is 35.9 percent.
Garik Hayrapetyan, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Armenia Executive Director, spoke on the situation of women's rights prior to Women's International Day on March 7.
Hayrapetyan also shared the results of the new UNFPA study for Armenia. For comparison, Hayrapetyan noted that Armenia ranks the third among European and Central Asian countries, with Georgia's indicator to be (51.1%), and Kazakhstan's indicator - (38.1%), respectively. The overall pay gap of EU member countries is 15.9 %, and the world average indicator is 22.9%.
