Vardan Petrosyan’s Lawyers Have Applied to the European Court of Human Rights
January 22, 12:10

Vardan Petrosyan’s lawyers have applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for “an illegal one-year imprisonment.” The court decision to imprison the actor, his lawyers believe, is illegal since his guilt has not been proven, and Vardan Petrosyan, if freed, will not attempt to interfere with the trial.

The pretrial investigation and trial were initially held with “omissions and drawbacks, the lawyers believe.

“During investigation the site of the car accident was changed and, as a result, the prosecutor claims the accident to have happened in the sidewalk instead of the carriageway. It turns out the circumstances of the accident have changed. The pretrial investigation and proceedings as such aimed to convict and imprison Vardan Petrosyan instead of spotting the truth and doing justice,” said Nikolay Baghdasryan, Vardan Petrosyan lawyer, at the Media Center hosted press conference attended also by Marie Dose, Vardan Petrosyan’s French lawyer.
