Press Conference: ‘Local Authorities Elections in Goris and Other Cities and Regions of Armenia'

At June 8 local elections no serious acts of electoral fraud and violence were observed. However, the present situation does not imply a democratic election process since elections are not to be limited to the voting day only. In general, the elections were not competitive, with 2 or 3 candidates nominated in most polling stations.

This is what Tigran Yegoryan, ‘Europe in Law Association’ NGO member, lawyer, said at the Media Center hosted press conference entitled ‘Local Authorities Elections in Goris and Other Cities and Regions of Armenia. Tigran Yegoryan had been monitirong of the June 8 elections,’ Arpine Manukyan, observer from Transparency International Anti Corruption Center, also shared her thoughts on the elections.
