D!em.am is drafting a new bill on the Funded Pension

A bill on amendments to the RA Law on the Funded Pension is being drafted by D!em.am civic initiative, which carries on its struggle against the mandatory component.

‘We intend to apply to the 4 non-governing parliamentary parties and bring to floor a bill on the Funded Pension, which is 180 degrees different from the current one. The Funded Pension system must be voluntary,’ stated Davit Manukyan, D!em.am Initiative member.

Alongside with other members of D!em.am Initiative - Srbuhi Ghazaryan and Armen Abroyan, Davit Manukyan shared  thoughts on the events following the adaptation of Amendments to the RA Law on Funded Pension, employees’ application procedures, acts of pressure, as well as further activities of the Initiative.

‘We receive letters from Yerevan State Linguistic University, which say that at the University Accounting Department the employees are told that the Rector forces everyone writing a funded pension system withdrawal request to resign.  We face the same situation in Heratsi State Medical University, Grand Tobacco, Nork-Marash Medical Center,’ listed Srbuhi Ghazaryan who welcomed the standpoint of the Armenian State Engineering University administration, which has provided the staff with necessary information about the application procedure.

The speaker singled out several schools, particularly Schools # 65, 97, 69, 66, 38, 172, 173, 31, 114 where cases of pressure on the employees have been observed.

‘Apart from acts  of pressure, people are very often misled by being made to believe that they will  be exempt of Funded Pension payments  only for 2 months, after which they will have to transfer the pension deductions again,’ mentioned Armen Abroyan.

The initiative members believe that the interim law on Funded Pension makes it possible to continually exert pressure on employees at the highest levels.

Srbuhi Ghazaryan stated that the provision on submitting pension system withdrawal requests contradicts Chapter 3 of the RA Civil Code describing the principles of civil law relations, according to which the citizen shall be involved in activities by their will expression only.

The speaker urged to follow her example and file motions to the court to refund the pension deductions. Her own suit is currently in the proceedings of the Kentron and Nork-Marash Court of First Instance.

D!em.am Initiative invited everyone to the rally to be held at 19:00 on June 11 near the Matenadaran to support employees subject to pressure.
