The speakers included Armenian Coordinator of Aarhus Convention Aida Iskoyan and lawyer Artur Grigoryan.
Though the Comittee's decision is not final, Grigoryan is convinced it will become final and the NGO will refer to the court again.
“It’s been 12 years since the Convention was adopted and up today the RA legislation does not allow for relevant provisions for implementing the commitments. Legal procedures are based on political will in Armenia. Legislation is not amended because it conflicts with personal business interests”, Grigoryan said.
“Aarhus Convention’s Compliance Committee is neither a court, nor a quasi-court”, Aida Iskoyan stressed, adding that Aarhus is the only Convention stipulating commitments to the society
